Welcome to Woodlands Funerals
Funeral Directors for St Annes, Lytham, Ansdell and the Fylde Coast

Wooodlands Funerals Limited opened on the 1st March 2014, in Ansdell, Lytham St Annes, which is four years to the day since I started work as a Funeral Operative under the guidance of the late Maurice Rawcliffe.

Maurice Rawcliffe was one of the last “True Gentlemen" and a very well respected man in the Lytham St Annes area. He has helped countless generations of families on the Fylde coast since 1956.

My Grandfather was the very first Park Superintendent at Lytham Park Crematorium way back in 1926. With the role the house at the gates was provided; this is where my Mother grew up and had a very happy childhood. It was there where she met my Father, a grave digger working in St Annes for Fylde Borough Council.

Going back in our family tree is The Moore family, who was one half of Porter & Moore Funerals, who also served the Fylde coast for a number of years.

With this background, it was inevitable that one day I would work in the Funeral industry.

I started my working career in May 1982 for the Guardian Royal Exchange, which later evolved into Axa Tech UK and Aegon. In its heyday they employed well over 1200 people. I worked there for over twenty five years and in that time I got to know literally hundreds of people.

I consider myself to be a modern day Funeral Director, with old fashioned values.

Today, along with my wife Christine, we hope to serve the people of the Lytham St Annes and Ansdell and beyond. Giving them our dedicated service along with care and compassion at all times.
